Simona's 2012 Season Recap
If I had to describe my 2012 season in just a couple of words, they would be frustrating and disappointing.
The season started off with a lot of testing on the engine development with Lotus and that was really interesting. I learned a lot in that process, but unfortunately we didn’t get the support we needed throughout the season to be competitive.
We knew that it was going to be a more difficult start to the season because we still had a lot of work to do, but we were confident that we could improve as the season went on, which didn’t really happen. But, on my side I think there is always something positive that you can take from any situation.
For sure it was really frustrating not to be competitive, but on the other side I could work on something like the ovals with no pressure for results so I think that was really good for me personally. I had a really good result in Iowa even with our power issues and that gave me a lot of confidence that I had improved on the oval side, so that is definitely one step forward.
As the season went on it became more and more difficult to get results because the other engine manufacturers kept improving and we didn’t. I think we stayed strong as a team and did our job every race weekend.
I have great sponsors who continued to support me throughout a really tough season, so I’m thankful for that. Now I’m just really happy that this season is over and I can concentrate on 2013 so that we can have good results with the Nuclear Clean Air Energy car.
